SpeechWatch is a GPT-3.5 powered website and browser extension that points out hate speech and disinformation in YouTube videos. The service looks through the video transcript to do this. Working on 2 minutes of transcript at a time, the tool can detect if the speaker in the video is promoting hate speech or disinformation and importantly tries to explain why the content is harmful. It also attempts to numerically score the video out of 10. If the video does not contain harmful content, the tool also can give a helpful summary of the content. The browser extension works directly on YouTube (for both regular videos and shorts), so copying video links to the website version is not needed.

I built this website and browser extension in a few days as part of the Hacking4Humanity week long hackathon. My project won 1st place in the tech track.
